Membership Dues

Members who have not yet paid their dues for the year should see Chris Abel.

Iron Brewer Competition

  • Q2 2026: Irish Red (15A) results:
    • 1st place: Alex Smith
    • 2nd place: Randy Germann
    • 3rd place: Steve Offut
  • Q3 2026: Rauchbier (6B), due October 15, 2026 at FLOPS
  • Q4 2026: Hydromel (M1), due January 5, 2027 at OZ
  • Q1 2027: Weissbier (10A), due April 6, 2027 at FLOPS

Hop Schedule

  • Arkansas State Fair
    • Judging takes place August 22–29
    • Randy Germann and Steve Offut are judging
  • 15th Annual Friendraiser River Rally for the Beaver Watershed Alliance
    • September 17th 6:00–8:30 PM in Elkins (same night as the FLOPS meeting)
    • BWA is eager to collaborate with FLOPS but we don’t have details yet.
    • David Johnson made a motion to move the September club meeting to this event, Ben Farhner seconded the motion, and members approved it with a vote.
    • The club has around 8 gal of pre-Prohibition porter to serve at the event.

Potential Charities

  • Discussed a potential long-term partnership with the Beaver Watershed Alliance, continuing the September event annually.
  • The club would like to fill out the calendar with annual events in June–August.

Little Rocktoberfest

  • October 10, 6–9 PM at Argenta Plaza, 510 N Main St, North Little Rock
  • Signups are open; the club would love to see around 5 members participate.

BJCP Tasting Exam

  • November 21 in Little Rock
  • Interested members should contact Randy Germann for details.

New Business

Miscellaneous

  • Since Doc Farmer is getting out of homebrewing, the barrel project barrel needs a new home.
  • Members that have uncounted BOTY points need to send their points to Ty Weston.
  • Keith Linn shared that Arkansas Trails Brewing is now open. OZ is having their social there at 2 PM this Saturday, August 22.

Education

  • Ty Weston went over the results of the first FLOPSperiment. Participants shared some details about each of their brews.
